The Story behind Rum Bothy and Scotland’s Unique Rum
Rum Bothy was founded in 2020 by Kim Cameron along with the corresponding brand Gin Bothy. When you think of a bothy you may think to yourself that it’s a place that sources comfort and warmth, to rest and reflect the day, to Rum Bothy their business was born into the bothy culture. Based in the Angus Glens of Scotland, they hold its values and traditions. For Rum Bothy, this culture is more than just an idea - it’s woven into their business, it invites you to take a pause, reconnect, and savour something truly special.
Crafting Spirits with a Deep Connection to Land
The spirits Rum Bothy craft, are crafted with care and respect to the land, with a deep connection to Scotland’s rural heritage. Rum Bothy’s roots trace back to something very simple: making the most of what the land has to offer. Kim Cameron, began her journey with the idea of turning surplus fresh berry juice from her jam-making operation into something unique. Experimenting with infusions, she created her spirits that captured the essence of the land she loved.

This handcrafted rum, is a premium spirit with deep, complex flavours that speak to the care and skill put into every batch. Infused with saffron handpicked from the Strathmore valley, orange, and mixed spice. A full-strength rum that’s perfect on its own or over ice, or in a cocktail.
Rum Bothy Spiced Bothy Rum won the IWSC Bronze Award in 2024, with judges praising its “smooth vanilla on the nose” and “zesty orange and sweet cinnamon on the palate”. It’s the kind of spirit that invites you to pause and reflect, much like the bothy itself.

The Bothy Experience in the historic village of Glamis, just minutes from the iconic Glamis Castle. Here, visitors can explore the story behind their award-winning creations, enjoy tastings, and immerse themselves in the traditions of Scottish distilling.
In 2025, they were thrilled to expand their story with the opening of the Glen Prosen Bothy Distillery, nestled in a glen once known for whisky smuggling and illicit distilling. It’s a fitting home for the next chapter of their handcrafted spirits.
